January 20 – A New Independence Day
If Trump accomplishes even half of what he promises, we may celebrate another future Independence Day on January 20 every year.
January 20 – A New Independence Day
Brian C Joondeph
Independence Day, observed annually on July 4, is a national holiday that honors the ratification of the Declaration of Independence. This pivotal document marked the founding of the United States of America and its liberation from British tyranny and oppression.
In the mid-1990s, a song titled the same was awarded Country Music Song of the Year. Performed by Martina McBride, it celebrates a woman’s liberation from her abusive husband.
What are the commonalities? Oppression and abuse. Is anyone else sensing a strong stench of these in America, what used to be a shining city on a hill?
Could January 20, which is only a week away, become another Independence Day for Americans who strive for freedom against a tyrannical federal government?

Tyranny begins gradually before escalating rapidly. After the Declaration of Independence was signed, Benjamin Franklin responded to the inquiry, "Well, Doctor, what have we got, a republic or a monarchy?" by saying, “A republic, if you can keep it.”
During my life, I have seen a U.S. President, and his presidential candidate brother assassinated, allegedly by the very government they served. Many wars were waged, wasting American lives and resources, frequently started under false pretenses to benefit the military-industrial complex, politicians, and their donors.
In the last twenty years, tyranny has intensified as America underwent a "fundamental change," as promised by a former US President. The government has largely assumed control of the healthcare system, cultural deviance has been promoted and financed, and the justice and intelligence agencies have transitioned from safeguarding America to threatening and obliterating political adversaries.
The regulatory state has become so intrusive that price-controlled insurance companies, forced to sustain losses, were compelled to exit the California market to survive financially, leaving many without insurance following last week’s Southern California fires.
For four years, we have had a figurehead president. His staff and the corporate media have finally admitted that President Biden lacks the cognitive ability required for the presidency. Rather than allowing Biden to face the public, his enabling staff and media have protected and pampered him like a child, prompting concerns about who has been in charge of the country over the last four years.
The current administration has opened America’s borders to anyone and everyone without proper health or criminal vetting, allowing large numbers of unskilled, illiterate, and often unhealthy individuals to overwhelm American cities and towns, often terrorizing and harming U.S. citizens.
The administration is pushing the world’s largest nuclear power towards World War III. We focus on securing the borders of other nations while disregarding our own. COVID turned out to be a deceptive scheme, including its origins, treatments, vaccines, and their side effects, all aimed at benefiting Big Pharma and swaying a presidential election.
The California fires illustrate Biden’s “America Last” strategy. Los Angeles cannot fight its own fires and protect its residents because it sent firefighting equipment to Ukraine in 2022. Now, as homes in Brentwood and Malibu burn, Americans are left behind.
Voicing opposition to any of this may lead to social or legal repercussions. Where is today’s version of the founding fathers to proclaim “enough”?
In June 2015, a brash and bombastic Queens real estate developer descended the escalator in his 5th Avenue skyscraper, promising to take on the establishment and “drain the swamp.”
In 2016, he astonished both the ruling class and himself by winning the presidency. Nevertheless, he was sabotaged by the government he was meant to lead, ultimately preventing him from securing a second term.
The subsequent four years brutalized average Americans, sparking an encore for Make America Great Again. Donald Trump was reelected in a historic landslide, overcoming a late-arriving, inept challenger, a biased media, and a federal government determined to ignore the people's will to protect their privileges and authority.
What do Americans think? Rasmussen Reports asked that question of likely US voters.
The response was unsurprising. “Most voters say nothing President Joe Biden did during the past four years helped them, and nearly half believe he ranks among America’s worst presidents.”
Going further, “Just two weeks before he leaves the White House, 54% say that since Biden became president, he has not enacted any policy that made their life better. Thirty-four percent (34%) say Biden’s policies have made their life better, and 11% are not sure.”
Who thinks life is better? Here are some possibilities. “Senate report showing only 6% of federal workers show up in person on a full-time basis.” How many are actually working, not sitting on a beach eating ice cream like their boss spent much of his time? For the ruling class, life is better when Democrats are in charge.
A recent Rasmussen Reports survey revealed that 40% of Americans feel their financial situation has declined in the last six months, compared to 19% who believe their finances have improved.
On January 10, when comparing Trump's and Biden's approval ratings at similar points in their presidencies, the Rasmussen Reports Daily Presidential Tracking Poll indicates that Trump has a 48% total approval rating, while Biden is trailing behind at 44%.
If you want other opinions, Monmouth University polling agrees. “A majority of Americans say they are optimistic about the policies President-elect Trump will pursue in his incoming administration, according to a new poll from Monmouth University.”
The Real Clear Politics average poll of Trump’s transition shows approval +11.2 over disapproval. Out-of-touch corporate media may be distraught over Trump’s return, but the American people don’t share their pessimism.
Inauguration Day is a week away. Pray that Trump’s enemies, whether foreign or domestic, do not remove Trump during this period and that Biden’s team refrains from instigating a nuclear conflict or a new pandemic. The Senate must quickly confirm Trump’s cabinet so they can commence their duties on day one.
If Trump accomplishes even half of what he promises, we may celebrate another future Independence Day on January 20 every year.
